INTRODUCTION
Recovery from Mental Illness can include a variety of other areas that must be dealt with, (e.g. substance abuse, verbal abuse and physical abuse) all anti- social traits.
With this in mind "Hawaii Vet 2 Vet" set out to create the menu for recovery that allows the veteran to create their ideal recovery plate.
This approach causes the veteran to become involved in the process of recovery.
Working with the clinician the recovery menu becomes a tool that can help overcome the stigma of addiction and mental illness.
We have created this recovery menu to address the bio-psycho-social needs of the veteran in recovery.
All of these dishes can be served in a clinical setting with the supervision and support of VA staff and clinicians.
Our hope is that some of you who see this will grab hold and lift setting the example for others to follow.
APPETIZERS
These dishes help the indiviual develope skills in the social arena and also allow veterans to learn how to do self examination.
Mental Illness Anonymous (MIA)
A fellowship of people who suffer from mental illness and other abusive behaviors. these support groups are a twelve step action plan for your recovery and a stepping stone to greater social interaction.
Introduction to the 12 steps
In Mapping Your Steps we provide templates to help work the 12-step program.
The maps encourage reflection and serious consideration of the foundational ideas of 12-step programs such as powerlessness, concepts of a Higher Power, moral inventories, making amends, and helping others.
Hepatitis "C" Support Meeting
Veterans helping Veterans is the key foundation stone of these support meetings. the treatment process can be better with mutual support it is here that we interface with each other, this allows us the opportunity to network so that we can support each other in realizing that we are not alone we find strength and have a better all around experience in our recovery.
ENTREES
Build upon the social skills that are developed by participation in our appetizers
Facilitator Skills Training
Like an Executive Chef the Facilitator has a leadership role that all who qualify can train to do.
As a Facilitator your role will be helping other veterans start to walk the path that is recovery.
Isolation needs to be overcome thus, giving the Facilitator as an important role in the process of recovery.
Employment Skills Training
Problem Solving, Self-Management and Teamwork are just a few of the skills that are needed so that the veteran can join the workforce.
This Educational Meeting prepares the veteran to move into a supervised learning environment with the goal of wellness and work.
Business Leadership Skills
For the veterans that will want to pursue the path of Self-Employment we created this as an entrance for their future.
Many veterans in recovery with the desire to do so will be able to start a viable business.
We will cover subjects that pertain to all aspects of business start-up.
Self-Employment Technical Assistance, Resources, and Training On-Line

Work-world
OUR ULTIMATE ENTREE
Veterans who partake of this dish are placed in a work environment where they can utilize thier new coping skills.
Wellness and Recovery Manufacturing Company
Our goal is for you to create a lifestyle that includes employment. With that in mind we have created a place where you can learn the life skills needed to move on to supported employment.
With your commitment and your clinicians direction and support you will be able to construct your day to day activities with wellness in mind.
As an example, there are five main areas in the garment manufacturing process, so we could allow our veterans in recovery to select the area that they would like to work in. This way they are in charge of their day to day routine.
We would like all veterans who want to return to work to have an opportunity to do so and that is why we have created this path on the road to recovery.
